Social Sciences
The Social Sciences Department of SWWY is composed of 3 teachers from the United States (other Social Science teachers involved with Economics, Psychology and Environmental Studies are in the AP Department). Non-AP Social Science courses at SWWY are World History I and II (for Grade 10 and Grade 12), and US History (Grade 11/12). All history classes also serve in teaching students key academic skills they will need in studying abroad, such as understanding higher level academic texts, skimming and scanning for information, communicating clearly in English, and developing note-taking and critical thinking skills important for university. As a department, we hope to inspire students to find a connection with History as a subject, and develop an interest in their own personal connection to history.
