G10 English Dubbing Show
The ESL curriculum at Southwest Weiyu Middle School's International Department emphasizes practical language learning through authentic contexts. Reading novels helps students build their vocabulary and reading skills, facilitating their thinking quality and writing abilities. The ESL subject group has designed tailored activities, such as a dubbing show, to help students improve their pronunciation, intonation, and speech speed. As students progress, higher-level performance activities such as script creation and role-playing become available. Graduating students will focus on developing language skills for everyday situations, preparing themselves for studying abroad and becoming more self-sufficient.
On March 16th, G10 students held a dubbing show in the auditorium at 1:30 PM. The ESL group planned this activity for a month, and every G10 student participated. They worked in groups to finish dubbing scripts and rehearsed during their spare time. They also competed with each other during ESL classes, and the best groups were chosen to represent each class at the g rade-level showcase activity.
In Class 10A's selection from "Interstellar," the dubbing actors delivered an emotionally charged performance that left the audience moved beyond words.
Meanwhile, in "The Lion King" from Class 10B, the villainous Scar was brought to life with vivid realism, and young Simba's playful nature was captured perfectly, leaving everyone present in awe.
Class 10C's rendition of "Friends" demonstrated an impressive level of cooperation amongst the numerous actors involved.
Finally, "My Little Pony" from Class 10D presented a rich storyline featuring themes of friendship, love, and justice, delivered with impressive singing that made it thoroughly entertaining.

Despite the difficult start, we worked tirelessly in our spare time, and after multiple rounds of selection, we earned the opportunity to perform on stage. In the final week, we meticulously studied the characters' pronunciation, intonation, and voice lines. Our joint effort led to a flawless performance and resounding applause.

Our group was surprised when we were selected for the performance During our first rehearsal, we were nervous and didn't perform well. However, with the help of our teachers and our own hard work, we did our best to fulfill our roles. Although there were still some areas that needed improvement, we have no regrets.

At the start of our collaboration, we each took on multiple roles to ensure equal dialogue distribution. However, we found it challenging to match the speed and tone of the original language due to the play's portrayal of daily situations, which called for us to be more synchronized and cooperative. With our teacher's guidance, we held multiple rehearsals, improving our skills and growing closer as a team. We were very satisfied with our stage performance.

We're grateful for this opportunity to showcase ourselves on stage. We chose 'My Little Pony' for its novelty and musical elements. We spent a lot of time in practicing the song The Day Aria. Through dedicated rehearsal and guidance from our teachers, we achieved a successful outcome. We're excited and pleased to share our favorite childhood animations with everyone.
