First-aid Knowledge Promotion Activity in Campus

We never know which one will come first, tomorrow or the accident. There are about 540,000 sudden cardiac deaths every year in China, equivalent to one person falling down every 60 seconds due to cardiac arrest. More worryingly, 80% of the cases occur outside the hospital, and the success rate is only about 1%. The risk of accidents in crowded places is relatively high, and the campus is no exception.

Gu Yufeng, founder of the "High School Student First Aid Alliance" in Shanghai, gave a "First Aid on Campus" lecture to 10th-grade students and teachers at SWWY ID on March 20th, encouraging them to participate in emergency rescue activities.Learning first aid is not just about acquiring skills, but it has a profound meaning for middle school students - caring for life and being willing to help others. Popularizing first aid training and improving first aid skills among middle school students can effectively respond to accidents and risks both on and off campus, save more lives in a timely and effective manner. Especially for middle school students in their youth, it can not only enhance their ability to love themselves and their families but also cultivate excellent character of bravery and helping others.

Southwest Weiyu Middle School has always insisted on laying a foundation of "physical and mental health" for every student, which is in line with the concept of "life first, health first" upheld by the Xuhui District Education Bureau and the Red Cross. Joining the Shanghai High School Students First Aid Alliance allows everyone to take action in building a campus first aid defense line.  The Student Union of the International Department will also cooperate with the first aid alliance to effectively protect the life, health and safety of teachers and students and help build a healthy and safe campus.
