Highlights of Teaching - Twilight Summit in a Mountain Park

A group of AP students visited Zap Associates, a unified landscape architectural practice focused on the design of land of all types and scales, in all geographic regions. Students learned that how AP subjects, such as Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geography and Physics can be integrated into making a masterpiece of an environmental friendly twilight summit in a mountain park.

The essence of a mountain park is always ecology, and to achieve ecological respect, restoration is the most important and basic principle in the design of a mountain park.

（1）Planning an interesting route.

（2）Integrate the characteristics of the site to make the view more attractive. The park is half hidden by her natural beauty.

（3）The level between artificial and natural should be managed, so that the whole site can grow up naturally and be sustainable.

Along the quiet and remote mountain path, a hidden distant platform in the mountainside, a tower of Twilight standing at the top of the mountain with a full 360-degree view, she stands with her slightly contained form fluttering, stepping on the canopy of trees in the clouds. The beauty of the mountains and forests in such a distant mood forms a beautiful rustic painting…

At the end of the visit, everyone is fascinated with landscape architecture. Frank Gehry wrote “Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness”. Walking into the Twilight Summit tower in the early morning, everything feels infinite.
