Highlights of Teaching - PE

From the Department of Physical Education, as a foreign PE teacher, I would like to gladly present my contribution to the teaching of physical education in Shanghai Southwest Weiyu Middle School International Division.

Introdaction

Organizing a school football tournament was a wonderful event in teaching physical education. It provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills, teamwork and sportsmanship in a competitive yet fun environment. In addition, the introduction of new games such as handball and flag rugby, and others kind of sports, can increase students' understanding of different sports and physical activities, promoting diversity and inclusion in the physical education curriculum. These experiences can help students develop a love of sports, improve their physical fitness and build a sense of camaraderie among classmates and be exposed to different sports before starting their university studies abroad. Overall, these key points can help create a positive and engaging PE program that benefits students both physically and socially.

How does the learning process work and what have we already learned?

During the school year, students studied football and handball, and also took part in various sporting activities outside of school. In the previous semester, students were required to pass annual fitness standards such as: short and long distance running, standing long jump, skipping and others.

Football and Hanball: During PE class, students can learn the fundamentals of football by practicing skills such as passing, dribbling, and shooting. They can also work on teamwork and communication by playing small-sided games or mini-matches. Handball, on the other hand, involves elements of basketball and football, with players passing, dribbling, and shooting to score goals. Students can learn the rules of handball, practice ball-handling skills, and participate in friendly matches to apply what they've learned. Both football and handball provide opportunities for students to improve their coordination, teamwork, and physical fitness while having fun and staying active.
