City-Level First Prize Goes to SWWY: Xiangyang Charity Club Shines with Excellence!
On November 23, the Xiangyang Charity Club (For Hope) from SWWY earned First Prize at the Final Evaluation of the 6th Shanghai Middle School Students Volunteer Service and Public Welfare Labor Showcase Activity.
This student-led club, guided by teachers and parents, supports underprivileged communities through diverse initiatives:
• Winter Clothing Drive: Mobilized 300+ students and staff to donate 617 garments for Sichuan’s Ganzi region, ensuring warmth for those in need.
• Earthquake Relief: Quickly raised ¥2280.2 for Gansu’s 6.2-magnitude earthquake victims through creative events like a music concert and hot drink stands.
• Nepal Outreach: During Social Practice Week, members visited Tapobhumi School, teaching subjects such as language, science, art, music and activity. Ahead of the visit, they raised ¥56,773.01 through online and offline campaigns, supporting various school improvements, including enhancing the playground.
• Art Museum Engagement: Members organized creative workshops for children, blending traditional crafts, calligraphy, and interactive storytelling. These sessions earned praise from museum staff and brought joy to young participants.
• Local Volunteering: At a community health center, members guided patients on digital tools, comforted children in pediatric clinics, and shared stories with palliative care patients to brighten their days.
Through each project, Xiangyang Charity Club has embodied compassion, teamwork, and the spirit of giving. Their success is a testament to their belief that “a spark can ignite a flame.”
