Grade 11 students from SWWY ID took the stage for their ELA drama project showcase—an original, student-led production that reimagined literary classics with creativity and insight.

Under the guidance of teachers Anna and Jenny, the project followed a task-based learning model. Students read The Crucible, explored the human conflicts behind the Salem witch trials, and engaged in the full creative process—from scriptwriting to performance. Interdisciplinary elements such as psychology, sociology, and visual arts were woven into the narratives, with characters reflecting deeper societal and personal truths.

On performance day, four groups presented striking original works: The Detective Story examined justice through reverse chronology, The Pianist offered a soul-searching monologue, and Medicine broke the fourth wall in a bold play-within-a-play.

As Anna noted, “American literature isn’t just about text analysis—it’s about transforming thought into dramatic language. This project nurtured critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. By connecting literature with real-world concerns, students embodied the essence of interdisciplinary, student-centered learning.”
