Learning Science and Responsibility Through Animal Care

On December 30, 2025, SWWYID students and teachers of Grade 10 attended a special lecture on campus delivered by Mr. Hong Shaokang, Technical Director from Mu’ai Pet Veterinary Services. The lecture focused on understanding animals through science while emphasizing responsibility and respect for life.

During the session, several pets—including a Labrador, a Bichon Frise, and a domestic cat—were introduced, allowing students to observe animal behavior up close. Mr. Hong explained how pets communicate through body language and behavior, helping students learn how to interact with animals properly and safely. He also guided students in identifying signs of pet health issues by observing indicators such as mood, appetite, and physical condition, turning the lecture into an engaging, hands-on learning experience.

Beyond scientific knowledge, the lecture stressed the long-term responsibility of caring for animals throughout different stages of their lives. Through real cases and thoughtful discussion, students gained a deeper understanding of compassion, responsibility, and respect for living beings.

The event successfully combined scientific learning with moral education, encouraging students to approach life with both rational thinking and empathy.
